Recently I went on a little in-state trip to visit a friend of mine in San Diego. I’d never visited the city before and quickly fell in love – this what California looks like in all the stereotypes etc, not the foggy Bay Area (although clearly my love for San Francisco is still unconditional!). I stayed in the Pacific Beach area, which is all about a laid-back, beachy lifestyle, complete with beach cruisers, frat boys everywhere and more bikini/surf shops than you could ever imagine.

We spent our time in Pacific Beach in a very productive manner, accomplishing all sorts of things 😉 Said activities included running along the bay, brunching at Mission Café, partaking in tacos and fishbowl margaritas (yes they were huge) at Fred’s Mexican Cafe, getting the best bikini wax ever at Viva Brazil and getting a pretty sweet haircut at Belli Belli Salon (totally worth a stop if you’re in the area, not to mention waaay cheaper than SF salons). The perfect girly way to spend a couple of days.

Next up was a stop in Torrey Pines State Beach, for a little hike and a slight counterbalance to the eating/drinking fun. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be a regular destination, so convenient from the city but a beautiful getaway still.

Other stops on the agenda included cocktails in La Jolla, a trip to the zoo and Balboa Park, a night out in the Gas Lamp district and finally , a delicious brunch at The Cottage in La Jolla – a definite recommendation if you’re near La Jolla!
